The most important thing to buy your child is the right shoe that fits. We've been told that shoes are so important to not use hand-me downs for your child's main walking shoe. We have a bunch of cute hand-me down dressy shoes or sandals but the main shoes our girls wear to play are new (from the outlet stores!) Shoes do get pricey even for toddlers! We loved the
Robeez shoes for our girls as newborns but now we are loving the
Stride Rite shoes. We need to ensure the soles are flexible to help the girls learn to probably walk. Hard sole shoes will not allow your child's foot to bend correctly when they are first learning to walk. Therefore, they will start walking flat footed. The
Stride Rite shoes are super cute for boys & girls. Here's some of our favorite shoes to get you started.
Note: We like to go to our local kids shoe store (ie. Nordstrom or Outlets) to have the kids foot measured to get the right size & width then we typically purchase the shoes we like online (for discounts). The first time you go to Nordstroms, tell them its your kid's 1st shoe fitting and they will take a picture like the one below for a souvenir, give your kids a free stuffed animal & a balloon. Its a fun event!
