Do you know your spouse's "Love Language?"

Valentine's Day will soon be approaching. Do you know your spouse's "Love Language?" After reading "The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts" by Gary D. Chapman my husband and I realized our "Love Languages" were complete opposites! I thought I was showing him that I loved him through my "Acts of Service" and "Quality Time" together. However, that's what I needed to feel loved and all he needed was "Words of Affirmation!" READ this book to learn about each others love language and re-light those sparks!

"Marriage should be based on love, right? But does it seem as though you and your spouse are speaking two different languages?

New York Times bestselling author Dr. Gary Chapman guides couples in identifying, understanding, and speaking their spouse’s primary love language.

The 5 Love Languages
1. Quality Time
2. Words of Affirmation
3. Gifts
4. Acts of Service
5. Physical Touch

By learning the five love languages, you and your spouse will discover your unique love languages and learn practical steps in truly loving each other. Chapters are categorized by love language for easy reference, and each one ends with specific, simple steps to express a specific language to your spouse and guide your marriage in the right direction. A newly designed love languages assessment will help you understand and strengthen your relationship. You can build a lasting, loving marriage together."

Did you know there's also a book to explain your Child's & Teenager's Love Language too?

We LOVE these books and they have helped us strengthen our 8 year marriage. We hope you find time to give them a try too. The best tip we have is for you both to read the book together so that you can talk about each chapter and each others thoughts on the topic. No matter how long you've been married you will be shocked about how much more you learn about your spouse!

Another great resource to strengthen your marriage is attending a weekend Marriage Workshop by Dr. John Gottman and his wife at the Seattle Center. Next dates are: February 9-10, 2013 (Seattle Center), May 4-5, 2013 (Seattle Center), and August 3-4, 2013 (Seattle Center). My husband and I attended this workshop before our twins were born and it was so beneficial to learn tips on how to better communicate in order to strengthen our marriage and meet each others needs.

If you are just looking for a simple "Date Night" idea, check-out the Cinebarre at Mountlake Terrace! It's an over 21yr old establishment that services appetizers, dinner, dessert, and any beverage of your choosing as you watch a new release movie! We love getting there early to chat, getting our food served to us, and relaxing as we watch a new movie together. Tickets can even be purchased in advance through Fandango so you can walk-up to the will-call window, quickly pickup your ticket, and avoid the long purchase line. Enjoy!

Most important, have fun & keep those sparks alive in your marriage!
